Nigeria Stumble, Iceland Rise In February FIFA Ranking
Despite their second place finish in the recently concluded African Nations Championship, the Super Eagles moved southward in the latest ranking by the world's football governing body.
Nigeria are now the 52nd best football playing in the world, FIFA’s February ranking confirmed that. The Super Eagles dropped a place having accumulated 606 points to be ranked seventh in Africa behind Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco, Egypt and Cameroon.
In the month under review, Nigeria placed second in the 2018 African Nations Championship – crashing 4-0 to the Atlas Lions in the final. However, it was a different tale entirely for the country’s oppositions at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Iceland moved two places up to no. 18 in the world – to reach an all-time high as Croatia stay impassive at 15th. Argentina – a team Gernot Rohr’s men spanked 4-1 in November 2017 friendly – are ranked the fourth best team in the world behind Germany, Brazil and Portugal.
The next World Ranking will be published on 15th March, 2018.
